Whoop !! :-)

Postby harrytb » Sat Jun 30, 2012 11:16 am

I've written & sent dozens of letters, I've knocked doors & made several phone calls with only one of these coming good for later in the year , I've gained permission to detect 10 acres from a mate at work also . Having given up all hope of finding any local land I've been slowly looking further & further away then bugger me last night a mucka in my local walks over .. you got a metal detector aint you H do you want some land to dig up , thought he was taking the proverbial but no his brother inlaw has got some local land & its all mine :-).
3000 bloody acres of field & woods

Great news harry
I don't know whether I have got such a cute face pmsl or just the gift of the gab but I have been lucky and never had a problem finding permissions , we are literally spoiled for choice . But to be honest its not always a good thing because you tend to flit from one farm to another and we could really do with coconcentrating on one area. Good luck with your new permission go out there and strike gold

The 10 acre plot is near stourbridge & I've got high hopes for it but its currently neck high grass . sited next to very old church & rectory , blokes having it cut back in the next couple of weeks so I'll be on that like a rash , local farmers are unreal but hey its their land & their right to say no , this new permission has blown me away .

Nice one H, glad you've got some land after all the graft you did. Sounds like half of wolverhampton to me lol..
Yes the local farmers are a bit mean, but I suppose it is their land.

Anyway it just goes to show for some of the time, it's not what you know, it's who you know that matters,
Good luck with your new empire, Mick

Gods land! I worked Fordhouses, low hill, Scotlands etc when I first started in 80-81 there for 15 yrs before getting shifted to Stafford. Salt of the earth. Best 15 yrs of my 33 working life. Good times. great memories....Dave the gas.
