Thanks for the reminder Bruce!

I've certainly scratched my head and searched many sites trying to ID coins without success but the collective 'brains' that use this forum and kindly share their knowledge has solved many questions.

Thanks to all for giving your time and expertise!

It's a great site and very informative so well done to all who run this forum and all the members for their interesting posts

I have always been fascinated by the Romans and their culture and i love navagating my way through this forum and reading all the about the interesting finds relating to the roman occupation of the UK. It's ashame they never came to Ireland as it would of made for interesting detecting and better tasting expressos, cappucino's, lattes etc. =)) =)) =))

Here, here on your opening speach Bruce.

Agree with you on that one. I am a newcomer to this forum and what i would like to know is, can you reply to all those who answer in one e-mail, if so, how?. Sorry if it's obvious but i'm getting there.

Not quite sure what you mean dave...
You can copy and paste as much into your post as you want and you can thank as many people in one post as you want..

If you are talking about our Private message (PM) system, then that is not available to you until you have had 10 posts approved by us....
Its a small anti spam measure....

How very apt this is ... i was going to put a thread on saying exactly the same thing ive just had a look at Jayreef's link to the coins ID site ... what can i say pretty amazing. The thought of putting a name to all the coins i have found was quite daunting .. & i was going to auction them as unidentified as i dont have the time to go through lots of different sites & books. So a very big thank you to Jayreef & the other coin & artefact experts..& everyone else that casts their eyes across anything on here .. even the funny ID's ...thanks guys & gals ! =D> :D B-)

Hear Hear, well done and thanks to all who have helped us so much. Can you reply 'to all' if you get several answers to a query? or do you have to do it individualy?

Hello

I am new to Metal Detecting and a week now since I joined the forum. I would find things better if more forum users post what Metal Detectors & Models they use, Also I think it be good if forum users could post of set their pref's to say what area of the UK & European countries are from. Just and idea.

That's up to you, but my own opinion is that one should either thank individually OR thank all and make it obvious that you are thanking all. I think it's quite rude when 2 or 3 people give an ID but only one is named and thanked. JMHO

Also, some ID's take more time than others. I think if someone has obviously spent a lot of their time and effort to track down an obscure item and posted lots of interesting information, then it's only courteous to thank them by name. Again, jmho.

I think BA's post was aimed at people who don't bother to thank or acknowledge an ID at all, which is just bad manners.

Sorry guys Just read this thread for the first time, :(

I think the I'd people do deserve a level of respect as they have helped me too many times to mention but iv'e always been grateful and have said thanks also to each and every one of you I hope :D

This is the only site I go on,have had 30 seconds on others but having been here when posters were in hundreds and not in thousands, really believe that as a site we encourage people to be responsible, but most of all promote the fact that we want everyone to enjoy the hobby and make the great discoveries that others on here do.

Myself as a detectorist sometimes sit in awe at the things that get posted here, knowing I would be lucky to find 10% of what gets shown.Thats why we do it,to try and find what others have ;)

Thanks to everyone for making this site what it is :)
