Some slivers of silver for ID please
I have always run my Explorer SE Pro with a low amount of discrimination but after reading up about it thought I'd try running in open screen/zero discrimination and got some great advice after asking in this thread on MDF (http://www.metaldetectingforum.co.uk/vi ... 52#p734226)
As advised I set it up with Clear screen (no discrim), Conductive tones, Deep on, Fast off and Sensitivity 22-32 auto (as low as necessary to get a stable and consistent threshold). I also tried Ferrous tones but preferred Conductive which give the lovely low tone on hammies which is what I'm used to.
I've been out 4 times with it and come back with silver three times so might be worth a try if you haven't already. It can be a bit noisy if there is a lot of iron around but it is not normally like that where I detect. All were found in stubble, 3-5" down with the 11" Pro Coil, coins are washed but otherwise as found. Any help with an ID would be appreciated, thanks.

Top middle is a class 5 or 6 John coin, the moneyer is Simon & the mint Canterbuy. The farthing is Henry III.

Fair play allectus that's quick
Glad your getting on with the explorer, wouldn't change mine for anything. Where I am there's a lot of iron hence the running in ferrous with the deep tone for iron which is great. I've been out for two hours today and had two silver sixpences among loads of other coinage so defo still working for me. Gd luck and let's hope the silver changes to gold !!! Sj.

Geez Tony,
You really are the man, you must spend so much of your time ID'ing other peoples finds, this forum is so lucky to have people like you

Thanks for the comments!
Thanks too Sj for the settings advice, glad to hear the Ferrous tones are helping to bring home the silver and as you say, hoping we see some gold!
Good luck and happy hunting.

I too have loads of iron but having it in ferrous gives a low grunt for iron and you will hear all the fluety good tones. Give it a whirl open screen no discrim fast only on ferrous. Auto 32 sens.
