Not been able to find this link on here but found this today. From an Estonian University by the looks of things, lots of trials on various methods of cleaning silver and silver alloy coins. Looks like one of the best solutions is dilute vinegar.
Lasers are not recommended!

just to clarify, the recommended treatment is a 10% dilute solution of acetic acid.
Vinegar is already diluted to around 6%. This should therefore work OK but will take longer to clean.
Can I suggest that the distilled (clear) vinegar is selected and the Malt vinegar is kept for your fish and chips!
