help with musketeer advantage

Postby GC-1023 » Mon Oct 26, 2015 7:50 am

just brought a musky on ebay .
the sellers can undo the middle locknut .are there any known issues of stems siezing up?
i can tell them to use brute force but not sure which direction it unlocks .
standing machine erect which direction would you twist the nut ? clockwise/anti-clockwise?

From memory of machines owned in the past, if you are facing an upright machine then anti clockwise would usually undo the grip and clockwise would tighten it.
Its not so much they seize up, its more likely that when wet the mud and sand gets very sloppy and small bits of sand etc will lodge in the threads making it difficult to undo.

Careful with wd40, not sure if that may weaken the plastics threads and nut?

but what does that mean ,lol.
holding machine with coil facing away its anti-clockwise i think . or with coil near you and handle away from you it clockwise . very confusing stuff ,lol.

Coil towards you,it'll be anticlockwise. It only turns a few times then comes to a stop. If it has been assembled for some years the bottom shaft can get stuck in the top tube even after you've pushed in the little spring button...maybe remove the control box and pour warm water over it...(the tube not the box!! :)) )

This any easier...lol
If you have your detector the same way as in the picture the cam lock on my sovereign tightens anti clockwise and slackens off when turned clock wise (direction im pointing) its not much only about 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn.

hope that helps
