CTX3030 for E Trac.

Postby Blueboy » Fri Aug 19, 2016 10:32 pm

I have read some mixed posts regarding the CTX3030 over the E Trac. I have had the E Trac for a few years now & get on really well with it but as always your wondering if the next machine up (CTX3030) would enhance my detecting even further.

I have always thought that I want the best possible chance of finding stuff, if I am spending my time on a hobby that I love.

I can swing the E Trac all day & the next without any problems so the weight is not a worry to me, if anyone has made the change I would love to hear if it was worthwhile & what they felt the CTX3030 does that the E Trac does not.

The E-Trac lacks in its recovery speed, the CTX3030 has the bonus of a faster processor so will find targets easier especially if they are located close to ferrous metals.

Thanks mrix, I suppose if the site is not very junky then no advantage at all for all the extra money.

I read that depth of finds & size etc is the same. Waterproof is a plus.

Hi Blueboy
Exchanged my etrac for the CTX in February and have not regretted it find I dig far less iron on the fields don't find the weight or the machine a problem . As for the beach the CTX is brillent wet or dry sand and at the end just wash it down with the hose

Not convinced that depth is the same, or at least the useable depth. The CTX will punch very deep indeed although you won't be using the sounds or the numbers for the really deep targets. You can use the CTX from day one but it may be years before you appreciate what it is really capable of. This morning after three years of trying I finally worked out how to detect coins on a sand covered rc wall that has foxed me for years and got £6 and a silver ring in half an hour. ::g

Better balance, Wireless, Ergonomic handgrip, faster recovery, excellent discrimination, among the more noticeable features.Target separation, GPS for marking finds ... and tracking back to hotspots etc. and many more improvements.
I have both machines but have not used my ET since buying the CTX 3 years ago.

But if you are happy with the ET ..........

I went from an Explorer SE Pro to a CTX - at first I really didn't think there was much of a difference. But I am now realising that the CTX is a completely different beast. Do it you won't regret it. Although be prepared for a very steep learning curve. ::g

Seems like those who have made the move don't have any regrets. I am pretty well used to my E Trac so hope the CTX is not too complicated in comparison. I don't want to spend the next few months finding nowt.

There is a small risk that what you have described could happen, some people have just not been able to get on with the CTX. The CTX is a long term investment not a short term fix. You will have an easier ride coming from another Minelab but it will not be the same and there is still a hell of a lot to learn - your call. ::g :D
