Re: where can i get a telescopic stemWhat machine have you got there are very few machines with telescopics but depending on yours one may fit or be addapted.
Paul Ps I mean telescopic in the litteral sense as most machines have a tube within a tube that is adjusted for length by means of holes and pins. NEW DEUS

its ok but would like it to go shorter for portability or even extend the cable and just have the box on my hip if you get what i mean Bounty Hunter Tracker IV

Re: where can i get a telescopic stemUnless you can get a purpose built telescopic I would try a straight shaft designed for GMP and like. As you are hip mounting this would work I would imagine though you may have to modify the stem to coil fitting.
Good luck will be good to know the outcome. Paul NEW DEUS

Re: where can i get a telescopic stemThere was a thread some months ago, started by Pauline1 about making a compact detector. My best contribution was to suggest a small camera tripod. You get three telescoping legs with camlocks, plus a few other adjustable bits, and they can be had at car boot sales for £3. The possible problem may be the presence of the metal lower leg close to the coil. I bought one myself, but haven't got round to doing anything with it yet.
Here's the thread...http://www.metaldetectingforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=9263
