T2 and Pro Pointer

Postby Liam74 » Sat Jan 14, 2012 5:21 pm

Hi

Today was my first day out with my new T2, I must say it is a very sensitive machine.

The first time I turned my Garrett Pro Pointer on the t2 went crazy, even though the t2 was a few feet away it still did loads of noises.

I had the machine on sense 60-70, discrim 40 and in 2 tones, this was on a maize field, but lowered it down to 60 when getting falsing.

I have been reading as much as I can about it, but has anybody got some tips for me, I did manage to find 2 buttons on parts I had been already over and these where deeper too.

Atb.

It can be a noisy machine - but you get used to it. Even running between 70 - 95 sens, 4 or 10 disc and 2+ tones, I have got used to all the noise & its quite clear from the tone setting when you get a good positive response signal to dig. The pro pointer does make the T2 sing a bit, but once again, doesnt bother me anymore. Many T2 users say they would rather have it noisy so you know whats going on. Hope this helps.

Hi T2

Thanks, when you say 4-10, do you actually mean you have set it that low on discrim, I thought everything below 40 was not worth digging, so set it too that.

What I don't get I am walking along then I notice and number came up with no sound, I presume it's a bit of falsing, how many numbers should it jump between before it seems a good signal.

The only thing that bothers me about it, that you can not see the screen in set light.

Below 43 generally not worth digging, but machine works better set on low disc. I only use higher disc if very trashy site.
Go by the sounds rely on them - use the screen just to back up what you hear in your 'phones.

I have a F75SE which is much the same i believe. Like you i have not had it long.
i have my discrimination set at 2 usually and like others said earlier the sensitivity at 99 (hot).
i sings like hell and false's like hell, but i can now define the true signals with relative ease.

Chatter and false's seem to equal depth and finds.
i have no detector!

I echo what everyone else has said.

I run mine as hot as poss.

95 sens where I can, disc about 4 or 5 and run in BP 2+ ( on the SE version )

The Pro pointer does interfere with it but if you change to frequency 7 it will be lessened considerably

Hi

Thank you all, I am so lucky to have people around to help me out. I will write down all you have said to me and try to keep at those setting.

The farmer did say somebody used to detect on his land for years and never found anything, he was quite shocked when i bought a box full of finds to show him, only the box that a take away Is delivery in, but never the less I did cram a lot in there.

Keeps those tips coming please, the more input I get the better my finds will be and a easier learning curve.

Thanks again, all the best.

The T2 is a noisy machine but you get use to it and by adjusting some of the settings you can reduce it down, mobile phones can also have some interferance as well but when you hit a target it will sound out as normal.

The T2 is my mind is the best detector that i hasve used i use 85sens 4disc 2+ and run it with the 12x10 SEF coil instead of the stock coil and also use the 15x12 for pasture and big open spaces.

The 12x10 SEF coil when used on the T2 is the icing on the cake and really is a great combination, depth wise, stable and pinpointing is superb.

Bells and whistles are nice, but nothing will substitute for the basic understanding of the hobby.

Hi

Thanks, I was thinking about a SEF coil, will see how I get on with it first, I will put it it in F7 if I got out tomorrow.

When you say discrim 4, why so low why not just put it on 0, is this with all metal mode or the other one.
