Headphone socket T2?

Hi sorry about this question I recently purchased a T2 and my other Md was a 3MX and I have noticed the socket on the T2 is somewhat different from the 3MX I pursume any headphones will fit the T2 and not some socket that is geared towards the U.S market.?

ive been useing sony headphones off my sons

ive been looking for a 90 degree adaptor to stop any rain falling in to the socket, ive not seen any yet
