Deus - wet beach !

Postby kev69elf » Fri Jun 17, 2011 5:58 pm

Hi took my deus for a run on the beach yesterday.
I firstly set it to- wet beach mode and then set the ground balance to pumping mode but failed about 8 times and then gave up and set it to beach.
I went along for quite some time thinking these settings were great as it was very quiet !

When I actually found a signal, I turned out my first shovel full and gave the area a quick sweep and the signal was gone !
So I thinned out the mound which wasn't big by any means untill I found a very small piece of aluminium about 2mm in dia, but it would only pick it up if it was very near the suface so I am thinking im only penetrating about an inch if that ??? :( My life story =)) =)) =))
The beach was wet and gravely 1= 6mm dia gravel...

Has any one foud the same on wet beach or have you got any setting you have found better or do I give up on the beach? :-/

my bro uses his on the wet beach. Said its quite chatty but still manages to pick as many coins up. Try burying some coins at various depths on the wet an see how it reacts.

Thats odd it wouldn't gb.Did you notice what the VDU gb numbers were on, as you were searching? The Deus will pick up tiny targets, and it definately searches more than an inch deep!

Unfortunately not, I dont want to give up using it on the beach but i was hoping someone would confirm they are reasonable on a beach so I would persevere ! I would be happy with four inches 8-> Like Tommo suggested, I think ill take some coins with me next time I go to test with as I would like to do the wet stuff :)) thanks for your input so far as they say two brains are better than one

To be honest,I have never had my Deus on a beach, but have read favourable reports on other forums.Personally I would try again (maybe on a different beach?)If the machine still wont gb,I would call Nigel at Regtons for his advice.
