So who's got one? Been to Regtons this morning to but a little round piece of plasctic for my T2, bargain at £9.95 , anyway was speaking to who I presumed to be the owner (very nice guy indeed), and he let me have a play with his Deus (ooer!). Well what an awsome piece of kit. So light, very fast response, the headphones were amazing and the clarity of tones was great. This also has camlock on the shaft which allows the shaft to slide inside itself and therefore enables it to be folded down for storage/carrying in seconds, and back up and ready to use in seconds. Any way I wondered just how good these are, so if anyone on here has one please let me know. And maybe, just one day, if I ever get any decent land I just might treat myself. Ian

Yes they look the business but how good are they really??? They are very expensive also. Still waiting on some un-biased reviews I find it strange how the XP site forum does not allow members to post???? Cheers mrix

LOL, I thought I might as well pick one up whilst in Birmingham, especailly after the $21 Teknetics quoted for delivery alone mrix wrote:Yes they look the business but how good are they really??? The chap at Regtons said, don't listen to the people that do not own them, but just to the ones who have and use them. I suppose he is right on that, too easy for people to try and pull them to pieces in a small fit of jealousy. LOL

Ha ha ... remember it cannot do all that important research and you still have to understand what the machine is trying to tell you! I will stick with the GMP for now as it is growing on me, slow but sure and never tells lies, Liam

you get what you pay for.just a hunderd or so pounds more than a e track
The E-Trac has already thousands of people using it with hardly any negative feedback. I think before I parted with any money I would have to see far more people using this new machine and giving positive feedback. Cheers mrix

Hi,
I am active on a French forum where the DEUS is owned by 83 members.
Don't own one myself, but am able to give a little feedback.
At first, the unit suffered from some hardware problems immediately after it was released. These problems were apparently solved.
The detector itself is impressive. It can be set with a very impressive high recovery speed making it a (deep) killer on iron infested sites. The only units that can beat it in recovery time are non motion detectors, but they are far to reach that depth in similar situations.
The DEUS is one of the top 3 hobby detectors, considering the competitors being the Etrac and the Spectra V³.
But bear in mind these are very different detectors. Here are a few differences.
The Etrac is an FBS technology model working with 28 frequencies and allowing incredible accuracy on IDing deep targets.
The DEUS works with 4 frequencies, but you cannot use them simultaneously. You'll have to make some choices. The settings allow you to emulate many other single frequency detectors. It has a Goldmaxx and a GMP modus, for instance, a wolftrax/Lobo (in french : redoutable) modus too. Old rots in detecting will be able to emulate other detectors with ease.
The V³ works with three frequencies, and offers the choice of working with either one of them or the three simultaneously. That is to my eyes a valuable characteristic. It seems to be complicated to master, but so was my Spectrum XLT at the time.
That being said and considering the stunning possibilities of the DEUS, it has, to my personal opinion, two drawbacks that would not make it my favorite amongst the three detectors I mentioned.
First, there is a battery in the search coil that you cannot access (transmitting information to the (remote) control box). When the battery will die (they last long, but it will happen), you'll have to send your unit in.
Second, the ID digits are not the same according to the frequency you use So the same Roman coin will read another ID in 18 Khz than it will in 4 Khz.
That bothers me, but should not bother many other potential users.
Hope this helps.
J.

First, there is a battery in the search coil that you cannot access (transmitting information to the (remote) control box). When the battery will die (they last long, but it will happen), you'll have to send your unit in.
So you basically have to send the search head each time the battery runs out which is still extra costs to consider over time, and a bit of a head ach I would imagine Gets me thinking also, how much does the battery cost? I guess they will charge to fit it each time ? To be honest that`s starting to sound off putting for me. At first, the unit suffered from some hardware problems immediately after it was released. These problems were apparently solved.
The manufacturers have no way to test these detectors in every situation and its far better off waiting until the many have already purchased the machine to iron out possible problems, issues if any..I think its likely to be the very first hundreds that are basically like guinea pigs testing in real world situations. Cheers mrix

It is one of the things i picked up on when i was looking into the Deus.....They have conflicting time scales for the battery but between 2 and half to 4 years seems about it.... There was a price of £40 bandied around but that no doubt will go up.....And your detector would be missing for at least a week..... Added misery of boxing it up and sending it by carrier pigeon, worrying if its alright.... Did put me off a bit..... Also funny to think it can emulate older machines.....i remember people using high powered pc's a few years back and getting excited because they could download an emulator to turn it into a spectrum again But i suppose it must have some uses...... The wow bit is the Deus's recovery speed.....although i am reading of people who are realy learning the Etrac's and have made settings that realy tame the beast and unleash some amazing recovery times in bad fields......

I thought this site might interest you Deus users. This guy is not afraid to tinker. I like his simple mod to allow use of your own headphones, whilst wearing the radio receiver on his wrist so he can read the display. Also, see the disassembly of the search-coil (broken, apparently), showing the battery, which he says is low-capacity by modern standards, and could be upgraded to a higher capacity type when replaced. Also the additional batery pack he fits to give extended run-time is potentially useful. http://xpdeusfan.free.fr/

Finds;- 17 x Vicky coins 16 x Silver long cross 1 x Gold quarter noble 2 x Romans Stacks of bits & bobs, lead, buttons etc. Today I got my large Deus coil You could say that if you had walked over the above items with any detector you would find them I think its not what your mate might use, its what ever is best for you!!!!!!!!! my wife and i have been using our DEUS,S since november and since then we have both found some amazing finds the detector will out perform most other detectors it has a recovery speed that cannot be beaten it loves trashy ground it it easy to program it can be used as a switch on and go using the factory settings that were written by the man that imports and uses them not by someone in a far off land you can use it all day and have no arm ache its easy to use you do not have to be a computer wizard to set it up you can download new programmes on the net including upgrades free of charge all the problems i was told about are not an issue the batteries are lithium polymer batteries and they will not just die like nicads do they do not develop a memory and they will take over 5000 charges and the battery change in the coil is no different to changing the battery in an I phone and can be carried out by Regtons while you wait if needed for a small charge the 0nly problem i have is i now have too dig too many holes because its gets more signals it is every bit as good if not a touch better than an etrac and yes i have used both all i can say is find someone who has got one local invite the to your site in return for a play with there machine and i garentee you will not want to give it back

I am not a strong man and I can use an etrac with SunRay and 18x15 for about 6 hours without a problem. I don't know anything about a Deus. Does it go deeper than the etrac? I get to about 15 inches with my etrac
