well, went out today for 3 hours i took the goldie to a place on my permision that is infested with iron, and has overhead power lines, i also took the cordless ws3 headphones and a pair of maztech pumas incase of interferance of the power lines. i used roger the relics beginner settings (a very good forum for info on the goldie power and well worth the 10.00 subscription fee.)And used the ws3s i was detecting directly under the power lines, no interferance whatso ever! The sound is exellent and clear, and these phones are very loud to. the amount of freedom they give you makes you wonder how you managed without them. The goldies iron volume control is a brill bit of kit set at 11 oclock iron is a dead give away (jus gives of a buzzing noise) on small to medium iron. The build quality i thought was very good to, one thing i did notice was the goldie doesnt have a pinpoint mode, but you soon get the hang of it . do i like it? to say i ve only done 3 hrs with it so far hell yes! alot better than my fisher 1236x2 or my troy x5.I found a little buckle some lead , small button and a very worn silver coin will post some piccs when i have more time and have sussed out how to do it!

mate you dont need a pinpoint setting to use, all you need to do is x over the area its usually spot on. My advice is to try and loan a copy of the xp dvd by the norfolk wolf he shows you loads of things to do with the gmp and what to listen out for. I have fell in love with mine and have started pulling up the goodies by listening to what its telling me. I had a viking before the gmp and boy it was a steep learning curve from that machine and the gmp is so light you have no worries doing 8 hrs

Thanks for the tip, I have just now ordered one off eBay. I use my GMP all the time and you really do have to become as one with it. Those signals come in fast and furious and it is so sensitive to the smallest fragments. Last week I got a lovely Septimus Severus silver Denarius in beautiful condition, so good in fact that I am hoping a mini hoard lies nearby .... we can all dream.
I have been using the control box on a belt and it seems to be a good idea, may experiment a bit with getting it higher off the waist as the box tends to block the access to pockets etc, Liam
