Predator headphones.

Post by manny »

I have just received my very expensive Predator headphones in the post!

Do any users have information regarding quirks and issues with these I need to take note of? I'm using (or will be very soon) a Laser B1 Hi Power.

Would appreciate any views.

Thanks.

I had a set and they were not good with the GMP. Apparently they aere the ony ones that don't suit the XP machines. Also, inside is a two-way tiny switch that you may need to operate to get it working when changing from one frequency to another, caught me out when I tried them on the X-Terra705. Eventually the jackplug/cable broke and I have had it repaired, so hopefully it will work on the other Rapier machine I have.
Not enough experience with headphones to offer a view as to their quality, but they are well regarded it seems, liam

Thanks liam... I'm guessing then that they aren't going to be so straight forward as I'd hoped!

I'm about to practice my B1 ground balance method which Blackadder miraculously unearthed for me now.

Marbles was such a simple game to play............. :)

Having never had a decent pair before I'm sure they will do the business. They look tough and well made... and even a Bentley driven badly wont stay on the road!

Nice easy flexi lead and the external mono/stereo switch is a great help.... plus my lugs tuck nicely inside. Crisp tone.... but will only really know when I'm out in the field.

Hi

The preds are very good, but as it was mentioned earlier if you have several detectors you will be constantly switching the little switch back and forth and being plastic it will go out of shape in a short while with the screwdriver being used to switch it back and forth. I have had the pred mk1's and been using the mk2's but decided that I needed a set of headphones with a toggle switch on the outside of the headphone so that I could switch them over without taking them off if need be.

I got in touch with Kev at Staffs and he recommended Black Widows which are sligthly more expensive then the Preds but are evenly matched,I wanted a set of headphones with a toggle switch on the outside of the headphones so that I could switch over to another freq without taking them of if need be.

if I remember rightly when I had a Tesoro I did not have to play with the switch first time as it was plug and go.

Good luck with them, if you hit a good target the tones will sing.

Regards

Hi

I have been using them with my T2 they go well with them and I had no trouble with them working well, the only problem I had whether I have big ears (would have to ask the wife) was I found that they did not fit as tight as I wanted. As when detecting I like to concertrate on the tiny signals that you get and felt that the outside noise was still coming in that's why I prefer the Black Widows that I have now got, they fit tighter to the head but are well padded.

Not knocking the preds as they are a very good set of headphones, but its horses for courses what ever people prefer stick with them.

Good luck with the preds, let us know how you get on with them.

Regards
