Cross and other items

Post by FinderFind »

Hello All,

I'm hoping someone can help ID some of my finds, the first picture has various
bits in, on the first picture, the button on the bottom left has writing on it
what looks like "25" on the side, and "Paris" on the bottom, (its reversed so I imagine
it may of had another section before.)

the button on the right has some text but I cannot make it out.
the other items in that picture I cannot seem to find any text.
anyone know roughly what these are/rough dates?

the next item is a cross, sorry for the poor pictures but I had
to edit colours etc to get the text to show up at all, its about
1 1/2 inches in size, it reads on the front "This do in remembrance of me" (from the bible
I think)

on the back it says "Guild of S. Saviour Streatham"
It also reads (from left to right) MIOX (on each edge of cross is one letter)
It was found in fields not very far from outer London.

any idea of dates/orign, or anything else? thank you.

The saying on the cross has something to do with the last supper according to the old testament.....so presuming it relates to a communion item?
The saying was changed in the new testament to "Do this in remembrance of me"

on the outside mean? date or something else?

Hi,

Thanks, could be.

the letters on each edge of the cross , (M,I,O,X) anyone know what they could mean?.
I thought maybe its a date, but cannot find anything that confirms that.

Thanks.

Hi,

newbie here - still need to introduce myself...but thought I'd answer this before I lose the thread:

IMOX would have to mean 'In Memory Of Christ' - X being the Greek letter chi, and a common abbreviation for 'Christ'.

Cheers,
William
Kind regards,
William (currently wielding a Garrett 400i and ProPointer II)
