Sov in the field?, do I keep hold of my Hawkeye?

Post by Pav » Mon Feb 25, 2019 9:58 pm

Hopefully this is allowed to be posted, it’s not meant to be a brand vs brand discussion. Hoping it can be discussed with no brand slagging.

I am trying to reduce the detectors. Really it comes down to storage and a limit to the extent of my contents insurance.
I only do beaches, but always have that thought that one day I will be in a field.

I swear by my Sov machines on the beach and my PI.
On a shelf is a Laser Hawkeye. Never used!, kept for that field one day!

But when that day comes would the Sov cut it on the field? Has the Hawkeye got anything over the Sov when that day comes? It’s got a flashy LCD screen that I think IDs. On the beach I dig everything but the obvious junk grunts from the Sov.

What do you think? Should the Hawkeye stay or go?
Anyone here use the Sov in the field?

Thanks.

The Sovereign is possibly the best all round detector ever to come from the Minelab stable.

Forgetting the weight factor of yesteryear, it will never let you down wherever you choose to use it.

Happy Hunting,

Youz need a P.I. machine which does the best in any beach condition....be one with your machine !

The Sovereigns a great detector on the beach and its very good on land as long as the grounds pretty clean of Iron. As I`m sure you know ,If you get lots of Iron It will continually null over Iron and will not function properly . So if that happens it would probably be better to bring the Hawkeye out in fields if a heavy Iron content is detected, not that I`ve ever used a Hawkeye though, but I know lads that do like using them in the fields so they must be doing something right. So yes I would keep the Hawkeye and take it along.

I was a fan of the Sov for many years and obviously it will still work. However, there are now far better options available for both land and beach. ::g

It really depends upon what you are after. Most modern detectors are pretty good but the best ones are very good indeed. :D

If you don't put the Sovereign in the vicinity of iron it'll be fine!

Not a fan myself. :D

Hello this topic resides in the Sov specific forum and it keeps going off topic, hopefully the OP has enough information now so I will lock this topic off ::g
Thanks
