New to metal detecting

Post by Bad back den » Sat Oct 22, 2016 4:36 pm

Just thought I would say hi and introduce myself.
Been interested in taking up detecting for years and only got round to buying one quite recently.
After a lot of reading and youtube I decided to buy a garrett ace 150. I was told this was a good beginner machine and the price was bang on for what I reckoned I needed.
I've been out a few times and have amassed small fortune in my sons eyes. Actually only about a tenner in coins and a few scraps of lead/copper. All from my nearest beach.
Got to say its good fun and highly addictive. Love hearing the bleeps going off.
I haven't been out in any fields yet. So don't have anything old or cool. I'm gonna go out next week when the kids are back at school and visit a couple of near by farms to ask permission to roam about their land.
Any suggestions of good places to visit around edinburgh/lothians would be really appreciated.
Cheers for having me on your forum and I wish you all good luck.
