A permission confirmed... such a great feeling!

Post by SuperRed » Mon Jul 09, 2018 4:49 pm

I just got off the phone to a farmer I had spoken to before the summer and great news: not only permission granted, but he has just cut the fields! Another 50 acres of farmland and 20 acres of woodland. The feeling definitely compares to digging a significant find ::g

The area is surrounded by archaeology, but despite extensive research nothing actually on the site although a branch of a roman road is said to run through it. I've been confined to barracks for health reasons and I have given my main pasture a rest due to the extreme conditions, so I am chomping at the bit!

Nice one, hard work perseverance off by the sound of it :)

Which bit are you going to tackle first?

Thank you. A good question... not a lot in terms of features, but it does touch a main roman road in one area. Probably the fields and save the woodland for rainy days (if they ever return). I usually blitz a section in different areas on each trip until (or if) I hit consistency.

Many thanks ss47 and BM and I hope you are right. The farmer did mention that it had been detected when I spoke to him months ago, but I didn't want to pester him with details earlier (just got off the phone in case he changed his mind lol). I don't believe there is anywhere with nothing to find. The estate is a really strange shape and I would welcome a bit of company to cover it tbh, but that will have to wait until I have had time to build a relationship with him. ::g
