First Beach Gold?

Post by skythepig » Wed Aug 08, 2018 12:49 pm

No not this time sadly ;;z
Had a couple of hours on the beach here last night and apart from the usual rubbish clearing and £2.20 in modern change the following item gave a really strong signal.
I dug up what looked like some wire that had been rolled up into a small ball, so popped it into my finds bag.
When I got home I looked at this ball of wire and washed it and was surprised to find it was gold coloured and I was able to un-roll it into the anchor style pendant you see below.
It gave such a good signal and is quite weighty for such a small item so I was hoping it was some sort of gold with enamel finish but alas not to be.
It tested as a copper alloy type metal.
So my search for beach gold continues and the £2.20 bought a pancake roll from the local chinese takeaway on the way home so not a bad evening. ::g

Would have been a nice little pendant. I can see it’s got some lettering on it. Can you read what it says ?

Glad you see it to. I thought there was an R in the middle. But maybe I have had too many mushrooms.

No it’s not the mushrooms or the gin. I can see an ‘R’ just wondered if you could see any more ?
There are a series of squares going down the centre. Is there anything in them ?

That looks more like the brass anchor off of a toy boat to me. ::g

Good spot Ladybird. I have looked at it again and can see I think a B C on the top arm and the R on the middle stem. Nothing on the back except more of the greeny blue coating.
