Beach Detecting advice

Hi Ladies/Gents I am looking for advice especially from any XP Deus users. Any first-hand experience would be more than priceless…..
I am off back to NW County Donegal in Ireland to try some beach detecting for my first time. Of course I have been doing some on the spot local and internet research. It goes without saying I am drawn to the history of the Spanish Armada being wrecked along the coastline.
My current set up is the full Deus, with a X35 13 inch coil aimed at Roman coin and artefact shooting, rather than modern coinage.
Has anyone advice on beach detecting…..?
I presume the first question would be which coil ?
Has anyone ever tried detecting beaches for historical finds ?
Any recommendations on literature or internet links ?
Has anyone ever tried searching for ship wreck finds, I have avoided the word Spanish Coins !! I think realistically it’s a needle in a haystack but a fancy giving it a go............

Thanks in advance

:)) :)) :)) :)) :))

Matt, that is mean.

Although in fairness I have heard others suggest that some other makes are better on the beach than the Deus.

Arch, sorry but as a Nox user I can not help with the set up. Assuming you do not want to invest in a new detector :D

What I will say is do what you already appear to be doing and the normal internet searches, I am sure that there must be some videos on Y-tube of the Deus on the beach.
There is also plenty of general advice out there about what to look for on the beach and what might be the more productive areas.

Realistically the chances of Spanish gold is near zero, but then so are the chances of a Saxon / Viking hoard inland and every now and again one is found so you never know ::g

At the worst you might just get some fresh sea air and exercise and find some modern spendables, all of which has to be good. So get out there and give it a try and let us know how you get on.

I've found they are not the best on the beach especially on the wet where I tried various set ups including both pre sets and wasn't getting much depth at all.... on the dry sand try your normal muck program .... I moved on to a pi then fbs 2 for the beach though I ďo use it to get close to the sea wall now than then as the fbs 2 blanks loads due to the slower recovery speed ....good luck

Deus is fine on the dry but on the wet it can be chatter alot as it cant deal with the salt water in the wet sand. It's still usable and you will still hear signals through the chatter but it can get a bit ear bashing after a bit.

Quote ARCH,.... " Has anyone advice on beach detecting".

Buy a dedicated beach machine !
Some detecting manufacturers will attempt to help sell thier detectors by putting on this
inclusion of what only can be described as a " Faux Beach mode" on board.
There are a number of detectors that are in with a chance of detecting on damp or wet sand but the XP range from my expirience ,isn`t one one them, and you may get a small amount of ability on the dry sand areas but over all the feedback you`ll get from the Mineralisation from the wet salt areas will affect your XP to the point of you being frustrated by the constant distorted feedback from the wet sand. :(

Interesting feedback. Always good to hear peoples reports from first hand experience. I feel then a lot of the YouTube videos maybe stretch the truth a bit then !!
Of course I am still going to give it a bit of go. Especially the two settings” Dry Sand” + “Wet Sand” since I am curious now how they perform, never used them yet………...
I have recently purchased a second hand HF Elliptical Coil ( 13x24 ) I am going to try out.
Are there any hard core beach detectorists out there with an experienced recommendation of best beach machine ??
Best Regards
