Post by karenc71 » Thu Aug 18, 2011 7:05 pm

hi, read through the crown estate map questions on forum and im confused, i have printed off the map and my permit the outline on the map in RED, means??? i am allowed to detect there or not?? need to be sure of this. as otherwise the bits not marked in red are minimal and wont b worth doing coz hardly any beach!!

so plzz RED FOR YES TO DETECT...
or
OR RED FOR NO TO DETECT.....

i know i sound dumb but do need to be sure thanks :-/

And the bits not marked in red are owned by someone else usually the local council so a quick check on their website may bring up their stance on metal detecting.

I've sent them an email asking where the maps are, so hopefully they are aware of the problem now.

The new maps are horrendous, how on earth are you meant to accurately plot where you are with them? There are no town names or grids!! :-/

ive just had a look at these new maps, i used this link

http://www.crownestate.co.uk/marine/metal-detecting/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

select the map of your area, when the map appears right click the map select maquee zoom. this should give you a magnifier just keep clicking till you can see the names.

hope that helps abit

On my map when you zoom in it just goes really pixelly, they are nothing like the old maps.

Hi sorry to be a pain, Does anyone have or know where i can get a more detailed map of the crown foreshore? the online one is not detailed enough to tell one beach from another! and i dont want to be detecting a private beach without the correct permission.
any ideas?
Kind regards

I am sure that I have seen elsewhere on this site that if you email Ian Mills from the Crown Estate site then he will send a more detailed map of a specific area. I would give it a try although a response may not come now until after the holiday period.
