this little wire ring i found a month ago that i was told was 20th century by our FLO last night. Found a fair bit of gold from 9ct to 18ct and alot of artifacts but like this the best cos it managed to survive the wrath's of the sea and being so fragile it managed to stay in one piece.

pi machines are pretty much designed for beach use, good choice. I've always wanted to try one.

A £1 coin. It looks like most of the gold is washed up on Barnacle's beach.

When I was a kid I found a champagne cork with a silver cap and an embossed swastika on the top that was on st Ives harbour beach.
I lost it years ago but I would love to know if it was from the third reich. s;..

Flippin' heck! Save some for the rest of us mate! ;) Very impressive.

I love beach detecting, sand's so easy to clean off and I still get a buzz from finding a 50p or £1 coin.

My best find is only an old, possibly silver ring with a few pink glass stones in it, looks pretty old, must post it on here soon to get an ID though I always get disappointed when I'm told its just modern steel :( But it is nice it was my first ever ring, still waiting on my first ever gold though, fingers crossed :)

The best beach find was this spanish gold florin, when i was only 14 yrs old. It was a holiday with grandfather, and we went to praa sands in cornwall for a day. 34 yrs ago in october and it was very quiet. I had a c scope bfo , found nothing then it was time to go home, so walking back to the car dragging the detector behind me, one more signal and there it was. We went to the museum with it and they said 16th century alfonso 5th, probably off a spanish wreck. I had it mounted and worn it ever since.

Not been back since, Danzigman. I remember the beach must of had a big shift of sand, as there was an unusual sand bank, in the middle of the bay, and it was on top of the bank about 1cm under. Bodmin museum said it was the second one to be found in the country. So in early 80's i had it valued, and because it is slightly worn on fleur de lis side it is worth £500 . If it was in good nick all round it would of been worth £5000 ;;z . Perhaps i should go for a week in the winter, i remember it like yesterday. I suppose i need a permit now.
