Small gold ring, George 111 shilling & a silver spoon

Post by Giz » Tue Mar 06, 2018 3:01 pm

A tad late with this post. A different beach from Sunday, lots of sand taken from the beach. Around 30 mainly decimal coins. I did manage a 1816 George 111 shilling. I'm not going to clean this one as I found one about 2 weeks ago from the beach and made a right pigs ear of trying to clean it. The spoon is also silver it seems to have capital lettering on the handle namely F C M. on the reverse ( didn't photo that side rl; ) The ring is quite small, there is a hallmark which is worn, I'm going for 18ct as if it had been 9ct I think it may have been more tarnished. Ta for looking ::g Below are my settings used on the CTX:

Discrimination 1, open screen
Discrimination 2, 5 bars blanked off
Sensitivity: Auto + 3
Response: Normal
Fast: Off
Deep: On
Saltwater: Off
Profile type: 2 tone Ferrous
Ferrous coin
Gain 24
Threshold level: 30
Volume limit:30
Threshold pitch: 15

That's a nice looking ring. I agree it looks more than 9ct, nice rich colour to it.

Beach silver has so much chloride and sulphide corrosion that it never cleans up well. Mine usually end up in the scrap bin.

Well done mate, you are on a roll. The ring looks Indian to me and might well be higher carat than 18, 22 is quite normal there. ::g

The spoon looks amazing, bet you are praying for more easterlies! :D
