I wonder if any of you good people have an idea on this.
Found today 3 inches down in pasture, gave a good clear tone of 83 on Garrett 300i Jewelery setting, sensitivity down 1 notch.
I though at first it was a small bell but as you can see from the inside shot nothing to attach a clacker to.
The small bit at the top has no holes to hang it. The engarving is pretty basis and the same both sides. Ive put it next to 50p for scale.
It almost reminds me of a candle snuffer, but ive had a google and cant find anything similar
The area is close to old hill fort that was also used by romans

I recently found a small candle snuffer which would have had a small handle to hold by the finger and thumb, I guess if you had half a dozen candles to extinguish you would require a quick and efficient way without blowing wax everywhere, (see link).
