Help With One of These Please

Post by arfur_sleep » Fri Sep 14, 2018 12:23 pm

Managed to grab an hour this morning on a nice disked sandy field with the XP Deus V4 and 11 inch Coil. Using the Deep setting with no alterations to the pre-loaded programme.

A bit quiet but did find these 3 items and the middle one has some markings on it but I have no idea what it could be so any help with the ID will be much appreciated

Second item looks similar to a medieval mirror case part.

Thanks F8met. I thought that but its only the size of the old pre decimal halfpenny and has not attachments for fastening etc. Thanks for replying ::g

It probably is a pre-decimal half penny. :D Size and patina look about right. It could even be a Nap III 5 cents piece ....they were widely used in the Uk and are the same size.
Decoration is crude in a way but must have taken a bit of time to chip it. Perhaps used as a gaming piece? Strange that the lead token has a cross on it as well.
GMP, Tesoro Invincible, wellies.

Thanks Littleboot. I too notice the marks on the lead disc and it has them both sides so too much of a coincidence to think they have been marked in the soil. mmmmmmm ponders what it may be ::g
