Secret find No.2
Secret find No.2
Following on from yesterday, here is another ring that I found a few feet away.
I don’t know if it’s the same age or of significance, but appears to me to have a cross and heart on it??...
Anyway, let me know your thoughts.

What else do you have up your sleeve?
I can't wait to see what transpires from this post, that ring looks fascinating.

Re: Secret find No.2
hello, both realy nice finds Emily, your second ring look to have a cross/heart/ ? from what little i know both look of the same style, might even suggest a husband/wife rings, ?? more research needed so i would think the FLO would help, i would also suggest you keep the location a secret and do some more detecting around the area maybe look on the internet of past history, if you are on good terms with the land owner maybe he has a digger to take some top soil off ?? who knows what other artifacts are there ??? good luck
Re: Secret find No.2
You’re welcome to see them for yourself this weekend if you’d like.

Hi Bob, no unfortunately I didn’t find anything good at Sunday’s dig. I went to another permission for an hour afterwards to try and find something worthwhile. Haha.

You have a great site there Emily - protect it - be careful that you don't give too much detail out about it / your location, you never know whose reading this.
Both of these finds are special,,,,, very special, I love them....

Re: Secret find No.2
I would think they are the same age, and could be quite significant, I would be getting those round to the local FLO real quick.

This might sound like a dumb question, but why are things taken to an FLO?? What is the purpose of it??

Well, if it is linked to the Masons it won't be that old (which would be a shame).

Re: Secret find No.2
It's been used for over 2000 years.....
It's the three theological virtues :
The first mention in Christian literature of the three theological virtues is in St. Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians 1:3, "...calling to mind your work of faith and labor of love and endurance in hope..."[6] He later refers to this triad of virtues again, "But since we are of the day, let us be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love and the helmet that is hope for salvation."

These rings are sometimes called sailor's rings. Probably Late Tudor through to Georgian I would guess.

Re: Secret find No.2
I watched the 1st in a new series about Britain’s most historic Towns, last night. It was York. Lots of info on the Viking influence.
One clip showed some coins (I think) and how the change to Christianitty influenced them. There was one with both Christian marks and Thor’s hammer. They explained it showed clearly the transition from one faith to the other.
I wonder if that’s, maybe, what the symbols on the 2nd ring are. Could the 3rd symbol be Thor’s Hammer ?
It’s always a good idea to show things like this to your FLO. They do have experts in most areas to call on for information.

However, I would very much like it to be Thor’s Hammer if I had the choice. Haha.Ladybird66 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 11, 2018 8:35 pmI watched the 1st in a new series about Britain’s most historic Towns, last night. It was York. Lots of info on the Viking influence.
