Philip and Mary Shilling? ID'd by Allectus - Sixpence

Post by shaggybfc » Fri Jan 11, 2019 8:57 pm

Hi all,
I was out on our club's Christmas dig last Sunday and found this Philip and Mary. It was slightly bent when it came out, so tonight I decided to anneal and straighten it (rightly or wrongly).
I think it's a clipped shilling, dated 1556, maybe a S2500?
On my scales, it comes up at 3g, but the resolution isn't good enough for a true weight. Diameter is approximately 25/26mm.
Found on rotted wheat stubble at approximately 7" down. Soil condition was loamy and damp.
Deus, X35 11" coil V5.2 running Gary's Ultimate.
Disc 0.0,
Sens 92,
Freq 11.3,
Iron Vol 2,
React 4
Audio 4,
Notch 0
Manual GB 93
More information or detail would be greatly appreciated.
Andi

They told me I’d never be any good at poetry, because I’m dyslexic, but so far I’ve made 3 jugs and a vase.
