strap end or something else?

Post by Mac91 » Mon Apr 16, 2018 12:03 am

Found this little piece yesterday. Only thing I could think of was a strap end, but to be honest I've no idea. It's plain on the back and is a thin section, (only about 1mm), hopefully the decoration is visible enough in the images. Apologies, I had tried to print a grid page for size reference only to find I'm out of black ink!

Found with CTX on pasture. Thanks in advance

I would say it's Medieval.

Spearhead I’m on your bus for this one
It’s got the look of good age
The decoration makes me think it’s earlier than
Georgian for sure

I would say buckle plate or strap end, got some age to it, possibly earlier than Medieval? I love these type of finds, well found and saved.

nothing wrong with the pictures ::g

My initial thought was it could be early. A few medieval and earlier finds have come up on this site so wouldn't surprise me if it was. Buckle plate looks like a good possibility I reckon. Thanks for the help!
