Boring object - identified as part of folding ruler

Post by MLDetect » Mon Apr 16, 2018 7:34 am

Hi
A pretty boring one but it's baffled me what it might be?
I found it very close to several other medieval finds on a field that is about to be ploughed.

It was about 4 inches deep but gave a lovely clear signal, it is about 2 inches long and I think is made bronze?

It seems to have 3 materials sandwiched inside , these materials look like some kind of leather?

Both sides are completely blank with no detail or pattern.

I'm thinking it might have some age due to its colour?

Any ideas what it might be ? Is it modern? Is it older?

Many thanks

These comments just brought to mind my English teacher who reminded me (with 100 lines)
"A measuring device is called a rule whereas a ruler is called'your Majesty.
100 lines later, 'we were not amused' but I did remember!! ss47
