Hammered, Saxon brooch(ID'd) and french coin, NEED ID

Post by Alex.wilko » Tue Apr 24, 2018 9:47 pm

Mate found the hammered and other object i found the french coin? coin is bronze and i think the UO is as well. Found near bottom of plug each time apparently with a garret at pro + 400i.
Anyway to get the hard stuck muck on the coin is welcome. Not enough file space to put rear view of last item.
Thanks
Alex

If you go to http://finds.org.uk and search for French Jetton you will be able to find a match with a bit of research. It needs both sides of the coin to get a full match ::g

That's a nice horse head brooch, early Saxon. I found a similar not so decorated one close to a pierced roman silver coin. Well worth checking the area where that was found.

The Saxon brooch fragment is a nice find and suggests you have a very worthwhile site with further potential ::g Regards ss47
