Gold ring - Year query

Post by Bluewing » Tue May 15, 2018 10:44 pm

Found this on my local beach, buried only 4 inches deep, in this exact condition... Rang out at 38-44 on my detector.. Garrett 200i, the exact same as ring pulls I pulled a few minutes earlier...

I nearly fell over, its my first gold find and I'm only at this about a month now just in my spare time!!

I did a 9ct gold test, its coming in at 9ct... Just curious does anyone know what year this may have been made in?

If it is 9ct gold, it will have an Assay (Hallmark) within the band. Need to put up another photo of that mark to get a positive answer. Regards ss47

What is the very first stamp that is out of focus due to the shine.

....to the left of '375' there's '9' (9 carat) but what are the other two marks. Flash has washed them out. Could do with a closer Macro image. Cheers ss47

The Second mark looks like the Birmingham mark for 1965 but the first does not look like an anchor for Birmingham, need clearer pictures.

Still can’t make out the assay office stamp. Had a quick look through the date stamps of the Dublin office incase it was local but could not see a match. A local jeweller may be able to help.

The 9 on it's side next to .375 means it was imported into the UK prior to 1975.

The third from the left i "think" is an omega

Sheffield 1906-1998

So best i can do is it was imported 1906-1975

But i could be wrong

Have a look at Irish Hallmarks. It seems to be the only one that ticks all the boxes.
