strange wee tube...

Post by HolzHammer » Wed May 16, 2018 11:15 am

Hi All,
I found this the other day - rolled field Hants, just under surface - never really find anything in said field bar endless cartridge ends ( is there anyway of avoiding these? - I have the xp deus no remote which I really like but still cannot tell from the sound the difference between a button. coin, or cartridge so dig it all anway and what do you know... cartridge...)
Anyaway - this feels much older than it did when I pouched it - I don't think the lines are traces of anything - just dirt but helps with the definition 14mm across and just under a cm end.
Very tactile - I think its bronze... hoping not a bit part of some modern machinery...
Any info or ideas much appreciated!
Many thanks in advance.
Best
Alexander

First if the bat .... I do not have a clue what it is. Someone is going to say some type of raw plug affair. But I'm going to guess. It is a guess. No basis in knowledge or fact OK. I just want to guess based on some intuitive flash when I first saw it.

It looks very similar to a bead you would have at the end of a leather thong on a drawstring. For a pouch or bag. But what first came into my mind was something off a set of falconry equipment. No idea if that will turn out correct lol. It just has a look. Something off the birds hood or leg securing arrangement.

I hope you get a legitimate answer. I love it.

Seems to have a Victorian standards mark ? Or is it a heart ? Appears to have letters in it. Registration mark ? Maybe

At around 12mm diameter I would guess either propelling pencil or pen.
