ID of iron square?

Post by chrisbham » Wed May 16, 2018 10:03 pm

Hi all,

Can anyone give an idea what this is?

It's iron, a sqare with concavaing top.

Found on pasture with a Garret Euroace about 3" down on a mid tone.

Cheers,
Chris

Possibly a sacrificial stud, as in its meant to protect what its put on that is in contact with the soil like the part of an old wooden plough to prevent wear on the wood, or a stud for an old door perhaps

It only a possibility as plough part but has been thought of as such by some people

Both seem right, it certainly wouldn't be much good to hold something together so to protect wood from wear seems like the best bet given the large rounded area on top.

Cheers!
