Strange coin... token?.. disc..?!

Post by HolzHammer » Wed Jun 13, 2018 7:19 pm

Evening All,
Found this (heavily corroded) copper disk at 7" pasture N.Devon -I have eeked out some detail on one side but nothing coming out on the other; it doesn't "feel" particularly ancient... the "helmet" is slightly raised and the "rim" has a shallow gouge... sorry not more to go on and please excuse the fingers; I needed to get the right slant to show what little detail exists.
Any info gratefully accepted and much appreciated.
All the B
Alexander

Thanks Danzigman - can't get anything on the "reverse" - the L and C may not be L and C but they are very prominent....

Probably a late George III halfpenny but it could even be William IV. Look at the coin edge, notice anything odd? ::g
Equinox 800 x2
CTX x2
Explorer II (for the Thames)

I think you are right - a vandalised coin....
