3 Edwards from today - lots of pics

Post by f8met » Sat Jul 21, 2018 12:44 am

Well one of my fields has been harvested, a respectable 46 acres but by god the going was tough. This is my Edward penny hoard field and I have been gong back to the same corner at every opportunity since 2014 when I found the last of the 12 from the purse loss, my first hoard.

Just goes to show a field is never done. Found 3 more today and I would swear I have covered every inch. I nearly did a meandmyboy as one was really hard to get out but a little water from my camel back helped. I will be sending them to my FLO to be added to my original disclaimed purse loss.

On hf program, 9" black coil, a couple of inches down in harvested barley, bone dry, rock solid clay, coming in around 72 on the deus.

Not had chance to get the books out yet to fully id them.

Lovely inspiring images, makes me want to get up and out myself, but the thought of digging rock in 28 degrees is not appealing enough.

I'm quite envious as the land that I have seems to be fairly void of finds at the moment and is also rock hard.

Hi Dave, I LOVE those clod shots 8=ypr l;. I have a field in Ireland that has a hoard of Eddies and they come up just like that now and then. Yours is absolutely brilliant!
Your ID topic is also top class as usual and I will use it as an example to others who need to see how good a topic can look if everything is done correctly. They may not get as good as yours but its something to aim for. If you can add your own tips for making such a good ID topic, then please do, the newcomers especially will be very interested.
I keep going back to those clod shots .. thats what detecting is all about, for me at least.

Yep....a fine example to use as a benchmark, good information and great pictures, my favourite type of post that engage the viewer, also receive recognition and acknowledgment with replies.

there is lots of info on how to achieve these results with the most basic of equipment, if only people would take the time and read, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink!

Well found, saved and showcased ::g ::g

Thanks all for the comments. I will apologise for it actually as the close ups are not in focus which I will do better next time. All I will say is these are all taken on my phone, cropped in irfanview editor, put on to Flickr and shared from there. No need to worry about picture sizing as in the Flickr share you can select 500 pixels

I it was late, I wanted to get the post up and I wasn't holding it flat so the tops tend to go out of focus but I will look at making something. I have used a pint glass as a stand before.

Very nice finds, well done. ::g We had quite a bit of rain yesterday so hopes were high for a damp field today. Not a chance, the ground must have soaked it all up. Dry as a bone even at 8 - 10 inches. Bare patches were as you say, like a dust bowl. Never mind there's always tomorrow for us mere mortals. ;;z

I am making this a "Sticky" for a short while as it is an excellent example of what we would like to see in an ID Request Topic. For me it has everything, the information covers not only the finds, with very good pics but also the machine, settings, the land and so on. All that make for a top class read and I DO love those clod shots l;.
Having such a good post on show is far better than referring people to a lengthy list of "whats needed" Thanks, Liam OooO :;@
