IS this bronze thing just scrap?

Found this this evening.
Before I throw it in the dustbin is it anything.

It is definitely "something", but I suspect not of great interest.

My bet would be a handle, or maybe leg, broken off something (going more for handle due to first picture).

I was vaguely thinking maybe the handle off a widow catch?.

My first impression was a handle fragment from an early posnet? x;
