Any ideas?

Post by BigDan » Wed Oct 10, 2018 1:44 pm

Found this earlier today about four more inches down. About two inches thick with a cross cut into it all the way through.

Weights about a pound. Round with domed top and bottom.

Have no idea what it is.

Apologies for the photo.

I am guessing a bit off a tractor or farm machinery. Some sort of weight.

It looks like you are on pasture and with it being fairly shallow I would think something fairly modern.

As f8met says, possibly part of some farm machinery or grass cutting device maybe?

Some additional photos may help with identification, although we all love a clod shot!

A single photo in plan isn't really enough to hazard a best guess, another angle shot just may do the trick. ::g Just wondering, I suppose it's a simple form of Iron Cross? 8-| :D Regards ss47

I imagine it as a cross piece of iron upright with the weight dropped on to it so you can vary the weights on the bit of machinery. Either that or it was a roller on a cross shape axle.
