Elizabeth I sixpence

Post by SMELLYJELLY » Wed Oct 10, 2018 7:26 pm

Hi all. Can any of you geniuses on here give me a spink number / id on this lizzie please. I'm told either a spink 2561 or 2562A . And also what would this coin grade as please. There's a big jump between spinks F & VF. The reaction ive had is better than a VF but thoughts welcome please.. Found on pasture With gm4wd. Thanks sj

As allectus has said a scale is important when dealing with coins
Just a bit of effort on your part to repay the effort the ID'ers put in on our free resource
There is even a free downloadable and printable scale on this forum for you to use

Next time with a scale please

Great detail in it, very nice condition, a very nice find.
I'm curious as well, would this coin be classed as fine or very fine?

Lovely coin. ::g

In terms of detail it looks to have been at least VF for the issue and possibly higher. It could just be the very nice photo but the surface looks a little bright and 'different'. Ground conditions can affect coins in many ways but for a coin this nice I'd reserve judgement until I knew a little more about it's finding and subsequent treatment, perhaps even until I'd actually seen and handled it. :D

I’m in agreement here, if I hadn’t been told it was dug up, but bought I would almost have been susspisous as to it’s authenticity.
It really is amazing how kind the soil can be to coins over such along period.
If your selling it or other coins I would air on the side of caution when grading coin because everyone’s take on condition is very different.
My opinion would be +vf
Well found.

Hi all. Thanks again for all comments. And guarantee its 100% authenticity as it was only dug up this week in a field by myself thats never been touched. Ive never sold a coin as yet, something to hand down to my kids , but not if they dont start showing interest soon .lol. 😂 so not for sale just yet but never say never.. thanks all.. sj
