Possible Lead Weight ID

Post by ashjacko » Thu Oct 11, 2018 12:56 pm

Hi everyone!

I have been finding a lot of lead recently and I mean a LOT! it never has anything on it but this bit has 8oz (obviously ounces) and some other letter that I can't quite read.

Does anyone know if this is a weight and what it may of been used for please?

It measures 5cms across.

It was found on constant pasture with my Garrett Ace 250 on relic mode and was around 5 inches down.

Thanks in advance.

It's flat with nothing on apart from scratches. Is it not to big for a bag seal?

I just searched it and it has the exact same shape as a large bag seal with that lip sticking out so you may be correct.

I do hope so anyway as it would be my first ever.

I have found probable close to 100 bagseals and only one that big. Chances are against it.

more likely cloth or bail seal.

8 oz is a weight of cloth but the seals are normally a peg through the middle so there should be a circle on the other side.

After searching that it does have the same shape and look as a cloth/bale seal so that is pretty cool thank you.
