What are these?

Post by Easylife » Wed Nov 07, 2018 11:43 pm

All found on pasture at up to 6". I just thought I would get some opinions on these.
Made of pressed copper, is it a Victorian decorative furniture mount or something else?

The first is made of lead and is sort of like a badly cast large musket ball showing a bit of sprue, so not fired, though it is rough and has a bit of a flattened appearance. Bottom pic is top view. It's roughly 3/4" x 1/2". Any ideas?
The second is hollow made of two-piece thin silver coloured metal and very light in weight. The front centre doesn't appear squashed and was made that way. It's frontal colour is two different shades of light grey and possibly painted. Obviously modern, but what is it?
Lastly a little lead cylinder, I have mainly found these on surviving medieval ridge & furrow pasture in different locations - which is quite puzzling as to what their purpose was?

Thanks for looking. :D

well id have a good look over the top copper one..see if theres a makers mark or signature...as it looks very like the style of charles renee mackintosh...if earlier maybe RUSKIN..the arts and crafts movement 1880 to 1920s..same stuff as artists and designers such as William morris and Walter crane..i would think its door or furniture related

I would hesitate but go one further to watermouses' astute ID and suggest the top one is hinting at Art Nouveau though Arts and Crafts still very strong.
P.S I REALLY like it!!

If both the outside items are lead they could be Capstan shot from the civil war, they used odd shaped pieces and also musket balls that were miscast or damaged

Thanks, there are no makers marks, just some traces of gold gilding on the back.
