george 111 farthing for id

hi not a detecting find ,but found in a tin of coins old 50ps,american cents, old pennies etc looks like a George 111 farthing maybe 1773 , size 22mm and thin.maybe a copy thanks for any info...red

Looks very crude :-/ There was lots and lots of forgeries around at that time. But actually they are more interesting than the official coinage in my opinion. That doesn't look real at all but at least it is in pretty good nick. ::g

Nice coin - strange that someone would forge something worth only a 1/4 of a penny. x; ::g

They made their money on the metal weight difference. Coppers were forged because it was more or less risk free unlike forging silver and gold coins which carried the death penalty. :D
