Cleaning my car out of discarded rubbish I'd found,I looked again at this, was considerably caked but something made me clean it.
Missing some of the settings what remains appears to be quite ordinary stones, and traces of redpaont still remain.
Can't remember when or where I found it.
Any theories?

Upon further thought, the 'stones' might be coral.
Just a hunch.

As the stones appear to have no relation to the actual fittings I can't help wonder if they have simply welded themselves on to the corrosion while in the ground and are not part of the original item at all.

Seems an odd coincidence the corrosion has welded them to the mounts only.

actually thats probably the obvious place for them to be... they have settled in the receptacles of the mounts and thats given them a "hold" for later binding.....

Reminds me of a few things I’ve found on the beach. It’s amazing how nature finds a toes-hold in the strangest places.
I was going to say it’s like one they found on Oak Island but I think it’s nicer :D
