Saxon ring and dot disc brooch?!

Post by Me and my boy » Sat May 18, 2019 12:46 pm

I very nearly put this in the rubbish bin when sorting out this weeks normal finds.
Whilst Washing all the junk off and putting the lead in the scrap bucket, the keeping of the half ok bits aside in their to look at later box and the rubbish in the rubbish.
I washed this, roughly enough to see another button. About to discard it to the junk, I saw and recognised the ring and dot. Turned it over and saw the clasped part.
I don’t keep any buttons hence the not really bothered approach to this item as I thought it was just another button.

The ironic thing is,I’ve been twice this week to this field and can’t remember for the life of me which part of the field this came from🤔

Pretty sure it’s a saxon ring and dot disc brooch, but happily stand to be corrected.

Deus hot, freq 29 nice flat compacted field. That’s all I can remember.

Good luck all of our this weekend.

Great find and I assume quite rare.

Bet there`s a few people now going through their " Half ok and rubbish " pots.
Well Found and saved. ::g

It’s the grey wheelie bin at the back of my house. Your welcome to have a rummage any time. The bin men probably do quite well off me.

Hi Nige,
