A weird one

Post by Curtains dave » Wed Jun 12, 2019 9:46 pm

Found this three centimeter grotesque sitting man or woman with Nox 800 on a drilled field just a couple of inches deep.

Can not see fixings on the reverse and stumped to age and purpose.

Nothing more infuriating than ‘partifacts’ to ID. Unless some one has found the same thing before and knows what it’s part of, not much chance.
Keep it as a curiosity. There will be more to come ::g

What type of metal is it? It sort of looks like lead alloy (pewter) rather than copper alloy. x;

It has a monk-ish look to me. A kind of medieval Mr Greedy. It reminds me of the sort of caricatures that appear on manuscripts or carved onto misericords etc. How thick is it? Could be from the top of an apostle-type spoon maybe?

Apostle spoon seems like a possibility.
Thickness is around the same as Georgian copper coin.
Appreciate your effort to ID
