Butterfly brooch?

Post by cantona1 » Tue Dec 03, 2019 4:59 pm

I'm not expecting this to be of any great age but I am thinking maybe Georgian? It's from a new field and apart from Mills bomb bases it's the most interesting piece I've found. I would like to be able to give the lady owner an idea of age so any help appreciated, fresh out of the soil you could see remains of gold gilt it is quite crude on the reverse as you can see. Any ideas much appreciated as always.

More likely Victorian, they were rather big on insect jewellery. :D
