Medieval finds - bronze and enamel sword belt holder?

Post by Charliecoops »

Hi! Found these detecting today in a place full with medieval history. A quick search on google and I believe the second item is a medieval sword hanger which would attach to the belt. Has anyone found or seen any similar? It’s a stunning piece and can’t quite believe I’ve found it. Definitely looks gilded and is bronze with a decorative enamel design.

And then the other 2 items I found nearby. Stumped on what they could be. Perhaps a decorative piece that would hang on a horse? They are very light. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Your bar mount is very unusual, I found one recently and researching it was quite difficult due to the lack of them. Well found 👍🏻

Thanks all.

This was the only one I could find online that was very similar. Love that it might be heraldic!

By a hanger I'm assuming you would hang keys, purse or a dagger or something simillar on it. [81/] [81/]
