1697 silver sixpence

Post by Mr Hammered »

Metal detecting yesterday on a havest sugarbeet field and found what I believe to be a 1697 silver sixpence coin but unsure if its the 1st or 3rd minted coin?
Never seen one before so nice to find a different coin.
Found using Minelab pro and Garret AT pro pinpointed.
Thankyou

It's to do with the style of the bust. I'd have to look it up. I know it's usually vert subtle differences. Will see if I can find unless anyone can help before hand

Nice one!

I found one the same year, but it is a love token and very worn - I also read that you can distinguish by different bust types - will send mine later for someone to help me ID.

It’s not a silver-plated snide, is it ? Looks like the silver is wearing off in places but could just be the patina.
