Back to the pasture fields that have produced some nice Roman finds. There was a fair frost this morning so allowed me see exactly where I'd been including each swing, so decided to cover the area that has produced 3 Roman coins including an Argenteus.
Less than 20ft from the coins is what I think maybe a Roman stud/mount. Looks similar in design to the lock plate pins, but larger. Nice deep green patina (which this field seems to give to older finds) plus some iron staining. Approx 6-7 inch with VDI in 30s
The second item was over a probes depth and a VDI in the 50s. Heavy and cast, hand finished. Perhaps a harness mount or similar. Perhaps medieval or post-medieval?
Thanks in advance
Neil

Return to Terret fields - possible Roman mount plus perhaps later strap mount?
