Could this be gold ?
Morning all,
I was out on a local pasture site recently and turned up this interesting Georgian looking openwork object. It appears to have initials in the centre, perhaps E and B?
It certainly has the look and feel of gold, but I'd be interested to hear other's thoughts.
The reverse has three small squares - I initially thought they were hallmarks, but sadly they aren't. Instead, they look like they might be fixings for a pair of lugs, suggesting it could be an item of jewellery.
It weighs 0.81g and is non-magnetic.
Any suggestions on what it might be (or if it could be gold!) would be much appreciated.
Thanks very much.
William

Looks like it, could be "rose" gold or 9K, difficult to tell from the lighting. The marks on the back are where a fixing pin and catch were attached by brazing. Well done
PS I think it is B

It looks like it's either rose gold or thick gold plate. Impossible to be sure without testing it.

Fred could have a point regarding it being possibly gold plate which would explain the absence of hall marks, it might be worth doing a density check or get a chemical spot test kit from ebay

Thanks all, that's really helpful. I'm almost certain it's gold, and to me feels and looks like thick gold plate than anything else.
Thanks again, everyone's help is always much appreciated!

Just thought I'd update this post - I took the item to a local jewellers and he was able to do an assay test. Turns out it's 9k gold!
Thanks for everyone's help, much appreciated as always.
