Gwynedd fields possible Roman finds

Post by bryanhen01 »

Hello all. I hope everybody is well and looking forward to getting out on the hobby we love as the weather improves. I certainly am. I am fortunate to be able to get out into many fields on my permission. To date I have found many artefacts which I have reported on here among which are hammered coins and coins from the 1700's. I have also got a post medieval sword belt attachment being evaluated at Bangor University. I have also found the usual ring pulls, beer cans and bits off old tractors so it's not all plain sailing but that's why we love it, you never know what the day will bring and you cannot beat the feeling for when you find something really interesting.
I have just uploaded the Legacy programme on to my Deus2 and really looking forward to getting out and using it on fields I have covered before. Has anyone on here got positive experience with it I wonder?
I would love to find something Roman as there is a fortlet nearby and a Roman road quite close but as yet I have not been successful. This is my reason for posting as I have pulled out these two items again which could possibly be Roman that I would welcome opinions on.
The first is a coin which is quite heavily corroded. I have zapped it for around twenty minutes and some detail is starting to come through that maybe somebody on here could pick out. The coin is about 2mm thick and the scale on the photos is cm.

Can anybody advise me on whether I should zap it more? I don't want to go over the top and damage it
The second item is what I think could be part of a Roman brooch. It seems to have that brooch shape and I wonder what people think

Any comments, as ever, very much appreciated and I look forward to seeing on here more finds and news and experiences from all you dirt diggers!
