Battered hammered and bits for ID please

Post by Giz » Sat Oct 14, 2017 8:56 pm

Took our old dawg for a walk this morning at 7.00am and the field which has sugar beet in it was being harvested only about 200metres from home, so this afternoon with the Deus, got swinging on flat well compacted earth, not earth shattering finds, however I'm well pleased with the variety, also lots of plain buttons, bits of lead, and iron both large and small. I think the hammered maybe a Elizabeth 1 halfgroat would like this to be confirmed or not :D photos 6/7 is a 1752 Dutch coin, photo 10/11 maybe a silver or pewter button/cuff link. I would like your thoughts on photos 4/5 and 8/9 .
Deus fast programme, reducing the discrim to 1, full tones, sensitivity 90 TX power 2, reactivity 3 silencer -1. GB = tracking, 11 inch coil still on version 3.2
Thanks for looking ::g

That's a good selection of finds and well done Giz ::g
Would you be able to give the diameter of the hammered coin? Just for elimination purposes.

A goodly haul
I think 8/9 is a post medieval clasp/part of a clog fastener
PAS has some very similar-Kent-26COA4
Is a good write up.
Nice one :)

It appears that the Elizabeth I groat first issue is 22-23 mm in diameter and the half groat is 18 mm according to the Spink book. Please don't take my word for it as I ain't an expert at this just keen to learn. Thanks again ::g

It looks to have a rose behind the bust. If so it can't be a groat or halfgroat. Probably a slightly undersized three pence Nice finds anyway. ::g
